What is Vehicle Advance?
The Vehicle Advance is a loan provided to government employees to purchase vehicles (cars, two-wheelers, or bicycles), governed by rules set by the Department of Personnel & Training.
Calculation Formula
The maximum Vehicle Advance is calculated based on vehicle type and basic pay, subject to caps:
- Car/Jeep: 8 months' basic pay or ₹10,00,000 (whichever is lower) - up to 90% of vehicle cost
- Scooter/Motorcycle/Moped: 4 months' basic pay or ₹1,50,000 (whichever is lower) - up to 90% of vehicle cost
- Bicycle: 1 month's basic pay or ₹10,000 (whichever is lower) - up to 90% of vehicle cost
Eligibility
Employees typically need at least 5 years of service, though this may vary. The advance is also subject to the cost of the vehicle and repaying capacity.
